Slovakia’s Rescue Team Help Earthquake-hit Venezuela

On Sunday, Slovakia’s rescue team left for Venezuela following the recent earthquakes. As Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok (Hlas-SD) infomed, the team consists of 15 firefighters, four dog handlers and two search dogs, and will bring two tonnes of equipment.

Two consecutive earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 struck Venezuela on Wednesday (24 June) evening local time. Houses collapsed near the epicentre in Moron, Carabobo State, leaving local residents without water and electricity. The death toll has reached 589, with around 3,000 people injured and dozens rescued.
