Slovakia Offers Aid After Venezuela Earthquake

Slovakia has expressed solidarity with Venezuela following the devastating earthquakes that struck the country's northern region. President Peter Pellegrini, Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD), Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár (Smer-SD) and Parliament Speaker Richard Raši (Hlas-SD) all extended their condolences to the victims' families and said Slovakia stands ready to provide assistance. The Foreign Ministry confirmed that no Slovak citizens have requested consular assistance in connection with the earthquakes in Venezuela, Japan or California. It also said Slovaks registered in Venezuela are safe or had already left the country before the disaster. Meanwhile, the humanitarian organisation People in Peril Slovakia has launched a public fundraising campaign to support survivors. Donations will help provide food, drinking water, hygiene supplies and temporary shelter to people affected by the disaster.
