The President's Office became part of Slovakia's testing quantum-secured communications infrastructure on Tuesday. The President's Office signed a memorandum of cooperation on the development of quantum communications infrastructure in Slovakia with the National Centre for Quantum Technologies (QUTE.sk) at the end of October last year.
The aim of the skQCI project is to build a quantum communications infrastructure across the territory of Slovakia. The project is expected to strengthen the country's cyber security and preparedness for current technological challenges. The Slovak quantum network is being developed under the European skQCI project as part of the EuroQCI European quantum communications infrastructure, which aims to connect all European Union member states.
"A quantum communications infrastructure will enable the creation of a quantum-secured communications layer in our country through the use of existing connections and the construction of so-called quantum communications nodes. One of these communications nodes is located at the President's Office. Testing the quantum-secured infrastructure will allow the sharing of expertise and experience for further development in this field," said the President’s press department.
Work on the skQCI project is now in its third year under the leadership of the Institute of Physics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences and in close cooperation with the National Centre for Quantum Technologies.
