On Monday, Trnava hosted the first-ever meeting in Slovakia of the European Committee of the Regions’ Commission for Social Policy, Education, Employment, Research and Culture (SEDEC). The event brought together 132 representatives from regions and cities across the European Union, including mayors, regional leaders, academics and development experts.
Discussions focused on social policies, affordable housing, European competitiveness, support for small businesses, innovation and startups. Participants also stressed the need for EU policies to better reflect the needs of rural regions. Another key topic was the New European Bauhaus initiative, which promotes sustainable development, quality architecture and improved living standards.
Regional leaders said the meeting provided an opportunity to showcase Trnava Region’s economic strengths and its experience in cross-border cooperation and innovation.
