Cyber Incidents Rise Sharply in Slovakia

Slovakia recorded a significant increase in cyber incidents last year, according to the National Cyber Security Centre. A total of 1,650 incidents were reported in 2025, up from 1,178 the previous year. The number of serious incidents more than tripled, rising from 23 to 75. Authorities say social engineering attacks were the biggest threat, accounting for more than a thousand cases. Many involved attempts to steal data or gain access to systems, often using AI to exploit trust and human error.

Meanwhile, police are continuing to investigate the cyberattack that disrupted Slovakia’s land registry systems at the beginning of last year. Officials say the investigation remains ongoing, while stressing that no permanent data loss was reported.
