Opposition parties have called for a special meeting to discuss the freshest events in the case of alleged tunnelling on the part of the erstwhile management of the Military Intelligence Service. Although the current Defence Minister Martin Glváč described the situation as a media hoax, there have been already a couple of witnesses ready to prove the opposite. The Christian Democrat (KDH) Pavol Hrušovský was surprised to see people appearing at press conferences to reveal their identities and disclose safe places that are necessary for the running of the secret services.
“I was taken aback to see what's happening in this country, what certain people think they can allow themselves. If there is a well-based suspicion that somebody's rights have been violated or that even a crime has occurred, it should be dealt with in a different manner, not by convening press conferences and calling on MPs”, said Hrušovský. The whole scandal began after the SME daily received a copy of the confidential file from an anonymous sender. According to the report, the Military Intelligence Service engaged in the illegal transfers of property to other institutions and private entities affiliated with the management of the intelligence service, thus depriving the state of millions of euro.
