Slovakia Remains Low in EU Prosperity Ranking

Slovakia has moved up one place to 23rd in the latest Prosperity Index, but remains among the lowest-ranked countries in the European Union. According to analysts, the country continues to lag behind more developed EU economies, particularly in economic performance.

Experts expect Slovakia to be one of Central Europe's slowest-growing economies in 2026, with growth held back by high taxes, weak investment and cautious household spending. While lower mortgage rates and capped energy prices slightly improved household finances last year, economists warn that these benefits may not last.
