Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) said the government is considering abolishing Slovakia’s transaction tax, provided it can find enough funding to offset the estimated 400-million-euro loss in state revenue. Fico stressed that any tax cuts must be balanced against the need to finance public services. Business representatives welcomed the discussion and called for stronger support for research and development, including higher tax deductions for corporate innovation investments.
