Doctors at the National Institute of Children's Diseases in Bratislava have successfully delivered conjoined twin girls joined at the pelvis. Hospital officials say both babies and their mother are in stable condition.
According to specialists, each child has her own heart, lungs and kidneys, but further examinations are needed to determine the extent of shared organs.
The twins are expected to undergo their first medical procedure this week. The last case of conjoined twins born in Slovakia was recorded in 2009.
