Only 29 percent of women in Slovakia believe they will have enough financial resources to support a longer lifespan, according to an international longevity survey by NN Group. The findings show a clear gender gap, with women also less likely than men to have savings covering at least three months without income.
Experts say lower lifetime earnings and career breaks for childcare contribute to smaller pensions and reduced savings, increasing financial insecurity, especially among single mothers, widows and single women. A recent pension reform aims to address this by counting maternity and parental leave as full working periods for pension calculations.
