Foreign Affairs Minister Juraj Blanár (Smer-SD) has left for Kenya and Tanzania on Monday (8 June). The aim of his five-day visit, which also includes one of the largest Slovak business missions to sub-Saharan Africa, is to strengthen political dialogue, development cooperation, and economic and investment relations.
On Friday, Blanár held bilateral talks with his Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha in the Ukrainian city of Vinnytsia. "The Slovak Republic is helping Ukraine as much as it can, particularly in the humanitarian area," he stated. During the meeting, Blanár reiterated that the Slovak government supports all peace initiatives leading to an end to the war in accordance with international law. "However, the European Union must be active and directly involved in mediating this peace process, a fact that, alongside Slovakia, is finally being recognised by other EU leaders as well as Ukraine itself, which is calling for it," said Blanár.
