Slovakia achieved the best result among EU member states in the European Commission’s latest assessment of compliance with fiscal rules, according to the Finance Ministry. Finance Minister Ladislav Kamenický (Smer-SD) said the ranking reflects the government's responsible fiscal policy and its efforts to keep public spending under control. The ministry noted that the Commission’s evaluation focuses on government-controlled spending rather than budget deficits, which are also influenced by external factors such as energy prices and broader economic conditions.
