Slovakia and India have signed two new agreements aimed at strengthening diplomatic ties. The deals, signed in Bratislava on Monday by Slovak Foreign Ministry State Secretary Marek Eštok and Indian Ambassador Apoorva Srivastava, will allow family members of diplomatic staff to work in the host country and introduce visa-free travel for holders of diplomatic passports.
According to Slovakia’s Foreign Ministry, the agreements will make it easier for diplomatic missions to operate and support closer political and economic cooperation. Eštok said relations between the two countries are currently at their strongest level since Slovakia became independent. Bilateral trade reached a record 1.6 billion euros in 2025. He also noted that India is one of the European Union’s key partners in the Indo-Pacific region and among the world’s fastest-growing economies.
The two sides also discussed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first official visit to Slovakia on June 15. High-level talks are expected to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, innovation, research, education and the defence industry.
