Slovakia’s senior officials have reacted to Friday’s incident in the Romanian city of Galați, where a Russian drone struck a residential building, injuring several civilians.
President Peter Pellegrini condemned the escalation of tensions between Russia and NATO member states, describing the attack as a dangerous precedent. He said the incident underscores the need to strengthen security along NATO’s eastern flank.
Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár (Smer-SD) expressed solidarity with Romania and rejected any violation of a NATO member state's airspace, as well as any actions that endanger civilians.
Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) called for restraint in public rhetoric and once again urged the immediate resumption of dialogue between the European Union and Russia.
