Slovakia plans to strengthen regional cooperation in areas such as energy security, EU enlargement and people-to-people ties during its presidency of the Visegrád Group, which begins in July 2026. Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár (Smer-SD) announced the priorities after meeting his Polish counterpart Radosław Sikorski on the sidelines of an informal EU ministers’ meeting in Limassol. The two ministers also discussed the further development of Slovak-Polish relations and ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a lasting peace in Ukraine among others. Blanár said Slovakia wants to use its V4 presidency to promote practical cooperation and address shared regional challenges.
