Gov’t Plans to Increase Minimum Child Support

Minimum child support payments in Slovakia could increase from 30 percent to 100 percent of a child’s subsistence minimum under a proposed law. If approved by parliament, the minimum payment would rise from less than 40 euros to around 130 euros per month from July 2026.

The proposal is intended to help single-parent families, particularly in cases where one parent fails to contribute financially. Parents receiving state-funded substitute child support would also benefit from the increase.
