The government at its away-from-home session held in the village of Haniska in Kosice-okolie district on Wednesday allocated more than €2.9 million for municipalities and organisations in Kosice region.
Approximately €2.3 million of the total sum is earmarked for specific projects of local authorities and organisations operating in the districts of Kosice-okolie, Spišská Nová Ves and Gelnica.
The cabinet also approved 41 tasks for individual ministries aimed at delivering improvements in the region's social and economic areas.
Several of the measures concern developing the strategic industrial park in Valaliky. Economy Minister Denisa Sakova (Hlas-SD) was tasked with seeking potential investors who could set up operations in the still unoccupied part of the Valaliky park. She's also expected to discuss with representatives of Volvo Car Slovakia the possibility of locating supplier or subcontractor production facilities for electric vehicle components in the districts of Spišská Nová Ves and Gelnica.
The Education Ministry is to assess the options for supporting links between the research capacities of universities in Kosice and strategic investor Volvo Car Slovakia, with a focus on applied research in areas relevant to electric vehicle production. Education Minister Tomas Drucker (Hlas-SD), in cooperation with local government representatives, is also supposed to assess and propose forms of systemic support for the European Integrated School project in the village of Kechnec in order to help prepare a qualified workforce. Along with local authorities, he's also expected to propose support measures for expanding nursery schools in surrounding municipalities in anticipation of an increase in the number of employees and families moving to the area for work in the strategic park.
Tourism and Sport Minister Rudolf Huliak (Independent) is to assess suitable forms of support for developing sport infrastructure intended for new residents and employees of the Valaliky strategic park and its surroundings.
Health Minister Kamil Šaško, along with Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok (both Hlas-SD), are to draw up a reform plan for developing the Dolny Zemplin and Slovensky Tokaj regions aimed at revitalising spa health-care services in Sobrance district.
Culture Minister Martina Šimečková (an SNS nominee) was tasked with examining possibilities and necessary steps for proposing the inscription of the Slovak part of the Tokaj wine-growing region on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The government proxy for Roma communities, Alexander Daško, is tasked with launching by the end of July a call focused on Local Civic and Support Services (MOPS), as well as a call for the second phase of National Project Development Teams by the end of the year.
