A total of 16 classical music concerts performed by Slovak and international artists will take place this summer as part of the Viva Musica! festival. The 22nd edition of the festival will also feature a concert by Janoska Ensemble in Prague, which is the first time it has moved outside of Slovakia. More than 150 artists from ten countries will perform in Bratislava. The festival will also continue the Eugen Suchoň vocal masterclass project.
The festival will begin unusually early on Thursday, May 28, with a special opening concert at the Old Market Hall, featuring the minimalist opera Einstein on the Beach by Philip Glass.
“One must forget the traditional concept of opera. It is more a series of associations surrounding Albert Einstein or his ideas about space, time, and the theory of relativity,” explained the festival’s director.
The Viva Musica! festival will run from May 28 until August 6.
