Slovak President Peter Pellegrini says the European Union must strengthen its security, competitiveness and technological independence to remain a strong global actor. Speaking to EU ambassadors in Bratislava, he praised Cyprus for its pragmatic leadership during its concluding presidency of the Council of the EU. Pellegrini also stressed the need to protect Europe’s data sovereignty and support innovation in artificial intelligence. Pellegrini reaffirmed Slovakia’s support for the European future of Ukraine, Moldova and the Western Balkans, adding that the EU must continue efforts to achieve lasting peace in Ukraine.
