Slovakia’s national hockey team failed to reach the quarterfinals of the 2026 World Championship after losing 2–4 to Sweden in their final group-stage match. The Slovak team started the tournament strongly with wins over Norway, Italy, Slovenia and Denmark, but failed to take points from the Czech Republic, Canada or Sweden. Coach Vladimír Országh said the team showed potential for the future, adding that many young players proved they could become important members of the national team in the coming years.
