Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár (SMER-SD) is meeting ambassadors of African countries accredited to Slovakia on Tuesday to mark Africa Day, which is observed internationally each year on May 25th. The Foreign Ministry says the talks will focus on strengthening political, trade and investment ties, as well as development cooperation. Blanár described Africa as an increasingly important economic and geopolitical partner for Slovakia and highlighted plans to expand the country’s diplomatic presence with new embassies in Algeria, Ethiopia and Tanzania.
Discussions will also cover sharing Slovak expertise in water management, sustainable development and climate adaptation. According to the ministry, this is the first event of its kind organised by Slovak diplomacy for Africa Day.
