Seven New Elements Added to Slovakia’s Cultural Heritage List

Seven new elements have been added to Slovakia’s National Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage, the Slovak Folk Art Collective SĽUK announced. The newly recognised traditions among others include Brhlovce steamed buns, bobbin lace-making from Špania Dolina, and embroidery from Nitrianske Pravno. The certificates were awarded during a gala event organised by the Culture Ministry on Monday, where communities also showcased their living traditions.

Slovakia’s national list now includes 57 elements of intangible cultural heritage, alongside six programmes for safeguarding traditions, and nine Slovak entries on UNESCO’s global heritage list.
