Key Witness Again Implicates Alena Zsuzsová in Kuciak Murder Case

Witness Zoltán Andruskó continues to implicate defendant Alena Zs. in ordering the murder of journalist Ján Kuciak. During Monday’s main hearing, he also testified that she had allegedly ordered him to arrange the murders of prosecutors as well, although those killings were ultimately never carried out. Andruskó is currently serving a 15-year prison sentence for brokering Kuciak’s murder.

In the case of the February 2018 murder of Ján Kuciak — in which his fiancée, Martina Kušnírová, was also killed in Veľká Mača in the Galanta district — Marian Kočner and Alena Zsuzsová are charged with ordering the murder. The previous two verdicts were overturned by the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic, meaning the case has now returned to the Specialized Criminal Court for the third time.

The perpetrators of the murder, Miroslav Marček and Tomáš Szabó, previously received 25-year prison sentences without parole, while Andruskó was sentenced to 15 years without parole.

In addition to Kočner and Zsuzsová, Dušan Kracina and Darko Dragić are also facing charges related to the alleged plotting of prosecutors’ murders. According to the indictment, the order to kill Maroš Žilinka and Daniel Lipšic was allegedly given in the autumn of 2017, while the order concerning Peter Šufliarsky was allegedly issued in 2018. However, none of the planned murders were carried out.

Szabó, who admitted to participating in the murder plots, has been a legally convicted felon since 2022.
