The Office of the Commissioner for Children has held its third Zlatý dáždnik (Golden Umbrella) awards in Banská Bystrica, celebrating inspiring families, children and grandparents who support others in difficult life situations. The ceremony was attended by President Peter Pellegrini, who praised foster families, single parents and relatives providing safe and stable homes. Children’s Commissioner Jozef Mikloško highlighted the importance of sharing positive stories and announced a new “Hall of Fame of Children” project. A special award category for grandparents was also introduced to underline the importance of intergenerational bonds.
