Rising global inequalities in income, healthcare, education, and access to technology are shaping children’s life chances from birth, the United Nations warns on the International Day of Families. Families without sufficient support face a higher risk of poverty, with long-term consequences for children’s health and opportunities.
The UN is calling for stronger social protection systems, including childcare and financial support for families. The message is also relevant for Slovakia, where birth rates have reached historic lows and rising housing costs are increasing pressure on families.
