In his address to participants marking the 81st anniversary of the end of World War II in Liptovský Mikuláš on Sunday, President Peter Pellegrini urged people to make room in their hearts for peace and calm rather than anger and hatred. The president also thanked all those who defended our freedom with weapons in their hands during the war.
No system is perfect, the president noted, and this was also true in past decades. “Nevertheless, it managed to ensure peace on a scale we've experienced never before,” he said.
Pellegrini also expressed hope that the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East would end as soon as possible.
