78 percent of Slovak Population Using AI Tools in 2026

As many as 78 percent of the Slovak population is using artificial intelligence (AI) tools in 2026, almost four times as many as two years ago, with a quarter of the population (26 percent) working with AI daily and the penetration rate among students reaching 100 percent.

This stems from a study titled 'AI 2026 - the Slovak Population's Attitude Towards AI', conducted by the Public Affairs Institute (IVO) in cooperation with Slovak Telekom and Accenture. The data collection was carried out by Focus agency on a sample of 1,003 respondents in February 2026.

Although as many as 66 percent of Slovaks feel that they are well informed about AI, the survey revealed a significant discrepancy between perception and actual competence. Objective tests showed a critically low ability to identify AI-generated content, with only 21 percent of the population identifying it correctly.

The uncontrolled use of technologies in companies and institutions is an alarming trend. Among employees who work with AI, as many as 61 percent use public AI tools in a 'grey zone' - either in breach of their employer's official bans (32 percent) or because the company has no established rules in place (29 percent).

The Slovak public strongly rejects to the use of AI at the first level of primary school (73-percent opposition), which stems from the need to protect children's natural cognitive development. Support for AI education increases at secondary school level (62-percent agreement). Meanwhile, 60 percent of adults think that learning to work with AI is essential for them to be competitive on the labour market. Source: TASR
