Slovak shooter Patrik Jány has been crowned European champion in the 50-meter small-bore rifle three-position event. He secured the gold medal in Osijek, Croatia, at the European Shooting Championships. For the 28-year-old, this is his fourth European Championship gold and his second title in this discipline at a major international competition.
Slovak trap shooter Zuzana Rehák-Štefečeková won bronze on Saturday at the ISSF World Cup Shotgun in Almaty, Kazakhstan, hitting 21 out of 30 clay targets in the final.
Rehák-Štefečeková advanced to the top eight from second place after scoring 120 hits in qualification. The gold medal went to Australia’s Penny Smith, who delivered a perfect final without missing a shot, setting a new world record. Spain’s Fatima Galvez took silver with 25 hits. Rehák-Štefečeková, the Olympic champion from Tokyo in this discipline, finished third, six targets ahead of fourth-placed Laetisha Scanlan of Australia.
