Slovakia will celebrate Europe Day with events in Bratislava and Košice. Europe Day, observed annually on May 9th, commemorates the Schuman Declaration of 1950, considered the foundation of today’s European Union.
Celebrations in Bratislava will take place at the Old Market Hall, featuring presentations from EU member states, workshops, games, and discussions on European cooperation. In Košice, events planned for Sunday include educational activities, sustainability workshops, debates on artificial intelligence, and a screening of the winner of the 2026 LUX Audience Award.
According to the European Commission Representation in Slovakia, this year’s celebrations highlight the European Union’s role in maintaining stability, prosperity, and security during a period of global uncertainty.
