On Monday in Yerevan, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico (SMER-SD) and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy agreed to step up cooperation, with a joint meeting of their governments expected by the end of June. The talks — planned for either Bratislava or Kyiv — are set to focus on transport links, border crossings, energy cooperation and humanitarian aid. Fico said stronger connections will be key to future economic ties, especially once the war ends. He also reiterated that Slovakia will not provide free weapons or back military loans to Ukraine.
Zelenskyy welcomed the dialogue, stressing Ukraine’s interest in strong and constructive relations with Slovakia, and thanking Bratislava for its support for Ukraine’s bid to join the European Union.
