Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) travelled to Cyprus for an informal EU summit focused on key geopolitical and economic issues. Leaders will discuss the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, as well as their impact on energy markets and the European economy.
The meeting begins with talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj on continued support for Kyiv and pressure on Russia. On Friday, discussions shift to the EU’s long-term budget for 2028–2034, alongside talks with European Parliament President Roberta Metsola.
Fico is also set to visit the UN buffer zone in Cyprus, where he will honour the UN peacekeeping mission and take part in symbolic events promoting dialogue.
