Daffodil Day Marks 30 Years of Cancer Support

Daffodil Day, a nationwide fundraising campaign organised by the League Against Cancer, is marking 30 years in Slovakia. The initiative has helped raise awareness of cancer, with around 40,000 new cases diagnosed each year.

The collection now includes modern donation methods such as SMS, QR codes and online payments, though most contributions still come from street collections. This year, around 13,000 volunteers are taking part, distributing hundreds of thousands of symbolic daffodils.

Funds raised support a range of services for cancer patients, including counselling, psychological support and financial assistance. Organisers say the projects are based on real needs identified by patients, families and the wider public.
