Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico (SMER-SD) wrapped up a three-day official visit to Vietnam on Tuesday, highlighting ambitions to deepen economic and strategic cooperation. During talks in Hanoi with President To Lam and newly appointed Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, the two sides signed six agreements across multiple sectors.
Fico said Slovakia aims to act as a bridge between the European Union and Vietnam, offering expertise in nuclear energy and the defence industry. He also pledged support for training Vietnamese nuclear specialists and boosting investment through joint business initiatives. Both countries also voiced support for expanding trade, innovation and mobility, with Slovakia backing plans for direct air links and closer tourism ties.
The visit included a large delegation of ministers and business leaders, underlining strong economic interest. The delegation covered all key sectors including defence, economy, foreign affairs, finance, agriculture and rural development, as well as culture.
