One person lost their life in Sunday’s collision between two gliders in the Borišov Hill area of the Veľká Fatra Mountains in the Martin district, northern Slovakia. The victim was a 65-year-old Polish pilot. The pilot of the second glider was an Austrian, who escaped unharmed. The pilots were participating in an international competition in gliding. According to the Mountain Rescue Service, the gliders crashed into the ridge area of Borišov Hill, off the marked hiking trails. In addition to air rescue teams, a crew from the Ministry of the Interior’s air squadron also responded to the scene.
