Slovakia has joined more than 30 nations in warning about the escalating situation in the Strait of Hormuz, a route for global oil and gas shipments. In a joint statement, Bratislava called for Iran to stop restricting commercial shipping and for all sides to de-escalate.
Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár (SMER-SD) said continued tensions — including strikes involving the United States, Israel and Iran — risk serious global consequences. He warned that any disruption to energy supplies could drive inflation and hit economies worldwide, including Slovakia. Blanár also stressed the importance of protecting freedom of navigation and highlighted efforts to stabilise energy markets.
