The governments of Slovakia and Czech Republic meet on Tuesday at Nova Horka Castle in Studenka, in the Moravian-Silesian Region, with competitiveness, transport infrastructure and energy security high on the agenda. Talks could continue on Wednesday in Bratislava if needed, amid concerns over an oil supply situation.
Prime Ministers Robert Fico (SMER-SD) and Andrej Babiš are also expected to sign a memorandum to deepen intergovernmental cooperation. Joint sessions between the two countries began in 2012, reflecting their close ties, with eight meetings held so far. The last meeting took place in Trenčín in April 2023. The most recent planned talks in 2024 were cancelled by the then Czech government due to disagreements over Slovakia’s foreign policy, particularly its stance on the war in Ukraine.
