Slovakia will do everything possible to help Moldova advance in its European Union accession talks, President Peter Pellegrini said during a visit by Moldovan President Maia Sandu in Bratislava. He emphasized Slovakia’s support for EU enlargement and offered expert assistance to speed up Moldova’s path to membership.
Pellegrini praised Moldova’s reform efforts and warned that delaying accession could weaken public support. Sandu highlighted growing trade with the EU and described enlargement as a strategic priority for strengthening Europe. The leaders also discussed energy security, as Moldova faces challenges linked to the war in Ukraine. Slovakia has provided technical and material aid, including support for water supply after infrastructure damage.
During the visit, the two countries signed a social security agreement and discussed further economic cooperation, including new business projects and a direct flight connection between their capitals.
