Energy Key to Attracting Investment, Says Economy Minister

Energy availability and prices are becoming crucial factors for investors deciding where to locate their operations, Economy Minister Denisa Saková (Hlas-SD) said at a business conference in Bratislava. She noted that while taxes once played a major role, investors today focus mainly on energy supply, self-sufficiency and grid capacity.

Saková highlighted that Slovakia has one of the cleanest energy mixes, largely based on nuclear and hydropower, and plans further development of nuclear sources, including small modular reactors. She also stressed the need to educate a new generation of experts in energy and innovation to maintain competitiveness.

Environment Minister Tomáš Taraba (SNS nominee) pointed to slow permitting processes and high electricity prices as key challenges, warning that without new energy sources, future investment and industrial growth could be at risk.
