Slovakia Lose 4–3 to Kosovo After Key Equaliser

Slovakia lost 4–3 to Kosovo in the World Cup 2026 play-off semi-final in Bratislava, with both coaches agreeing the key moment was the equaliser for 2–2. Kosovo scored seconds after Slovakia failed to defend properly following their own corner, turning the match in their favour.

Coach Francesco Calzona admitted defensive mistakes proved costly, although he felt the defeat was harsh given his team’s effort and chances.

Slovakia were missing several key players due to injury, which limited their options. Calzona stressed that the loss does not overshadow the team’s progress in recent years. Kosovo will now face Turkey in the play-off final, while Slovakia prepare for a friendly against Romania.
