Czech and Slovak Governments to Renew Cooperation

The Czech government has approved a memorandum to deepen cooperation with Slovakia, ahead of a joint cabinet meeting next Tuesday. Czech Deputy Prime Minister Karel Havlíček confirmed the move after Monday’s cabinet session. He said ministers from both countries have already met their counterparts, paving the way for focused, working-level talks. The joint meeting will take place at the Nová Horka chateau in the Moravian-Silesian region.

The talks mark a resumption of intergovernmental consultations after a two-year pause, with the last joint session held in April 2023 in Trenčín. Planned meetings in 2024 were cancelled by the previous Czech government over disagreements with Slovakia’s foreign policy, particularly regarding the war in Ukraine.
