Slovakia’s Culture Minister Martina Šimkovičová (SNS nominee) is in Rome on a three-day working visit, where she unveiled a bust of General Milan Rastislav Štefánik. The ceremony took place on Thursday morning at a military cemetery in the Italian capital, honouring one of Slovakia’s key historical figures. Štefánik played a major role in building the Czechoslovak legions and had strong ties to Italy during the First World War.
The minister also held talks with Italy’s Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli and will attend a commemorative evening at the Slovak embassy, featuring historians and cultural performances dedicated to Štefánik’s legacy.
