The European Commission has added Slovakia’s traditional cheese, Liptovská bryndza, to its list of protected designations of origin. The soft sheep cheese, produced in the northern Liptov region, is known for its mild, slightly tangy flavour and traditional production methods. Its unique taste comes from sheep grazing on mountain pastures rich in herbs and natural flora. The move gives the product EU-wide protection, ensuring it can only be marketed under that name if made in the designated region.
