Slovakia's EU-harmonised Inflation Hits 4.0% in February

Harmonised inflation in Slovakia, measured according to a unified European methodology, reached 4.0 percent year-on-year in February 2026, while on a month-on-month basis it fell to 0.1 percent, the Statistics Office reported on Wednesday.

The average annual rate of harmonised inflation for the period from March 2025 to February 2026, compared with March 2024 to February 2025, stood at 4.2 percent.

The year-on-year level of harmonised inflation in Slovakia was higher than the inflation rate calculated using the national methodology, which was published on 13 March.

In month-on-month terms, prices increased in nine out of 13 sectors (household expenditure groups), ranging from 0.2 percent in housing and energy to 1.3 percent in transport. In insurance and financial services, the price increase was only marginal.

Price declines were recorded in three sectors on a monthly basis: clothing and footwear (-1.1 percent), food and non-alcoholic beverages (-0.8 percent), and alcoholic beverages and tobacco (-0.1 percent).

On a y-o-y basis, prices rose in 12 out of 13 sectors, ranging from 0.9 percent in household furnishings and maintenance to 9.2 percent in housing and energy. The only sector to record a decline in prices compared with the previous year was transport (-0.9 percent).
