The Slovak para-hockey team recorded its first ever victory in only its second time at the Winter Paralympic Games. At the tournament in Milan, it succeeded in the battle for third place in Group B, when Coach Ivan Hricko's team defeated Japan 5:1.
Slovak coach Ivan Hricko, had this to say about the result: "It's a great feeling that we managed to win this difficult match. We dominated from the first moment and were clearly better in all three periods. Even after losing the first period, I emphasized to the boys to be patient, to keep going and not to forget the important things that we said to each other. In the second period we managed to turn it around. I am full of emotions and incredibly proud of the boys. It is their success, let them enjoy it, I wish them the best."
Also at the games, the Slovak curling team defeated the USA 8:3. The team has three wins and three loses after six matches. The Slovaks play two games Wednesday, against Sweden in the morning and against China in the evening. The team remains in the playoff hunt as they hold fifth place in the standings.
