Slovak Industrial Output Returns to Growth

Industrial production in Slovakia returned to growth in January 2026, rising 2.7 percent year-on-year, according to the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic. It marks the strongest annual increase since March last year and follows three months of decline.

The result was mainly driven by a 16.5 percent rise in electricity and gas supply, while production of transport equipment — including cars — increased by 4.7 percent. Eight of the 15 monitored industrial sectors recorded year-on-year growth in January. However, overall performance was partly weighed down by a sharp drop in textile and leather production, as well as lower output in the rubber and plastics sector.
