PM Seeks Talks with President Zelenskyy over Druzhba Oil Transit

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico (SMER-SD) says he wants to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss halted oil supplies through the Druzhba pipeline, but insists the talks should first be coordinated with the European Commission. Fico said he hopes to meet Commission President Ursula von der Leyen soon, possibly during a visit to France next Tuesday, to agree on a joint approach and push for an inspection of the pipeline and the restoration of oil flows to Slovakia and Hungary.

Meanwhile, the Slovak government has approved steps for the national transmission operator - SEPS to formally terminate its contract with Ukraine for emergency electricity assistance. Officials say the move responds to the disrupted oil transit, though regular electricity trade will continue. The opposition argues Slovakia earns hundreds of millions of euros annually from electricity exports to Ukraine and says ending emergency support could damage the country’s reputation.
