New Artillery Powder Plant Planned in Eastern Slovakia

A new factory producing artillery propellant charges will be built at the former Chemko Strážske industrial site in eastern Slovakia. The project, worth about 300 million euros, is a joint venture between Slovak semi-state company ZVS Holding and French defence manufacturer Eurenco, which has more than a century of experience in explosives production.

Defence Minister Robert Kaliňák (SMER-SD) says the plant will complement existing ammunition manufacturing in the region. The factory is expected to produce more than 100,000 modular propellant charges annually. Production is scheduled to start in 2028 and the investment should create hundreds of new jobs in the region.
