Slovak authorities have responded to the conflict in Iran.
President Peter Pellegrini stressed that international conflicts must be resolved through diplomacy, dialogue, and within the framework of the United Nations. Similarly, Parliamentary Speaker Richard Raši (Hlas-SD) rejected war as a tool for solving global problems, stating:
“Peace cannot be built with guns, but through patient diplomacy, respect for international law, and a willingness to engage in dialogue.”
The Slovak opposition also agrees that all countries, including major global powers, should adhere to international law. Progressive Slovakia (PS) leader Michal Šimečka said:
“An attack without a mandate from the UN further increases the risk of escalating tensions in the region. As reprehensible as the Iranian regime is, it still constitutes a violation of international law.”
The Foreign Ministry has called on all countries involved to show maximum restraint and return to the negotiating table. Ministry spokesperson Dávid Pavlík stated:
“In this context, Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár decided to activate evacuation plans at the most exposed embassies in the region.”
