Speakers of the Visegrad Group parliaments agreed in Budapest that the V4 should use its joint potential to boost Europe’s competitiveness, Slovak Parliament Speaker Richard Raši (Hlas-SD) said. He stressed the need to find common ground and address high energy prices and overregulation, which he said harm industry. Raši also reiterated Slovakia’s opposition to the 2035 ban on combustion engines and expressed concerns about new emissions trading rules.
Migration and the future of EU funds were also discussed, with calls for regulated migration and flexible use of eurofunds. On Ukraine, Raši said Slovakia supports a peace agreement reached with the involvement of the US, Russia, Ukraine and the EU, adding that Slovakia has played a key role in assisting Ukrainian refugees.
