Slovakia wants to deepen economic cooperation with Georgia, Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár (SMER-SD) said during a visit to Bratislava by his Georgian counterpart Maka Bochorishvili. Blanár described bilateral relations as very good and announced plans to send an economic diplomat to Tbilisi to explore investment opportunities in areas such as green technologies, IT and water management.
The ministers also discussed Georgia’s EU accession process, currently frozen by Brussels over concerns about democratic backsliding. Blanár voiced support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, with around 20 percent of its territory occupied by Russia. He called for renewed dialogue between Brussels and Tbilisi, while Bochorishvili insisted Georgia remains committed to EU membership.
